Dead Rails Guides

Dead Rails combines a moving train, fuel and loot decisions, zombie pressure, class choices, and a cure journey. Start with the question that matches your next run, then use the dated update pages when a mechanic may have changed.

Choose the Dead Rails guide you need now

This visible guide index puts Beginner first, then separates Solo, Team, Progression, Objective, and Update clusters. If this is your first session, read Beginner. If you are alone, use Solo. If the party keeps losing the train or stalling between settlements, use Team Composition. For a named mechanic such as Run Objectives or Newspaper Boy, go directly to the update-sensitive guide and read the live-check instructions before trusting an old reward or location.

Dead Rails player routes

Every route below is written for the train-and-survival loop, with current data boundaries called out where exact values are not verified.

When stuck

Protect the next leg

Keep fuel or coal available, return to the train, and stop optional fights from consuming the run.

When comparing

Use role and mode

A solo, Endless, beginner, or team decision can produce different useful class and train choices.

When updates land

Check the date

Codes, class effects, train behavior, objective UI, and community links can change after a patch.
